about

This is from the apartment at 15o Fourth Street in Troy, NY, Vonnegut's Ilium, where I lived from 8 May 2ooo until the end of September of the next year. Smelt was still a going concern, so I would go to the City some weekends to play a show with the boys, but they and others all pitched in to get me this Tascam 4-track and away I went. I have since lost some of them, whole records, but some made it through the brambles. Saddle Me Up would later be a staple of the Antique Sixguns shows, and Smelt used to play Halo. The Visitation -- that melody came to me out of nowhere my brother was driving us on the curvy road around Jamaica Pond in Boston and the melody just appeared. I had to include this lofi recording because it really captures the song, to me anyway. Oh and that's my Mom's Steinway on Commingling of Remains.
