about

Antique Sixguns was me with my high school friend Jason Voegele (playing drums) and my college friend Paul Lee (playing bass). We played our first show at Pedro's Restaurant in Brooklyn sometime in the summer of 2oo3. Maybe one of those guys will know when exactly. We played at Hank's Saloon a lot, and Freddy's Backroom, and Tommy's Tavern, and Pussycat Lounge. Those were the main four we played at over and again from 2oo3 until 2oo6. We played also Cbgb, twice, and Creek theater and Sputnik and C Note and Blu Lounge and some other places that weren't so great. We even did a roadtrip to Albany to play at my friend Howard's bar Valentine's. By the time we made Five Star Dive Bar the band had broken up, I was about to move to Northampton, and we just wanted a record that sounded like our set, so on October 15th 2oo6 we made this record, in a studio on the LES with Shuichi Morita as engineer.
Oh - about Lazy Susan. Some friend of a friend needed a soundtrack post haste pronto asap right this minute for his entry into the Tribeca Film Festival, in the shorts category. Somehow we got ourselves assembled right away on no notice whatsoever at the house on Spencer street in Brooklyn where Jason and I were living, and used my trusty Tascam four-track tape recorder to produce Lazy Susan(which to me now sounds excruciatingly too like the Daily Show theme I cannot BELIEVE I didn't hear it back then). Anyway we made his soundtrack and I think the film won something. Street Therapy was the title. But as usual (this truly is a recurring theme in my life) we got paid in sandwich form. Three times. Three fricking times I've been paid in sandwich. Once it was a cheap-ass BLT with saggy L and soggy B.
Anyway, to sum up: We were a pretty fun band for a little while there.
